Using Canon Network Scangear

If you want to scan with your Canon ImageRunner copier over the network, you first need to install Network Scangear.
Network Scangear is an application designed to map TWAIN commands coming from Windows applications to your Canon TWAIN device.
There are 2 types of Network Scangear-- Color and Monochrome. All ImageRunners with Color Scanning features must use Color Network Scangear. The version posted here is for Black and White ImageRunner copiers only.

  1. Download Network Scangear to a folder on your PC.
  2. Install the program NWSG_v21.20.exe from your hard drive with default settings.
  3. Run the program from the Start, Programs, Canon Network Scangear...
  4. Click the button labeled "Discover" and wait 0-5 minutes.
  5. If one or more copiers is discovered in the list and you see the one you would like to use for scanning, select it from the list and click the button labeled "Select."
  6. Close Network Scangear.
Inform your network administrator that every time the network address of the copier changes, you will need to run NWSG from every workstation that us using the scanning function of the copier. For this reason, it is best to "lock in" the IP address of the copier if that is permitted by the network router.

  7 Run e-scan or FileScan.
  8. In the settings dialog, select your copier as the scanner to use in the scanner select drop-down list.
  9. Set copier to SCAN, select "Online," and Load the document feeder or set your document original on the glass.
  10. Press "SCAN!"
